Weye Rebuilt - Sneak Peek

Updated: Jan 5, 2020

XycoZone's Weye Rebuilt mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

As said on the homepage, Weye Rebuilt is mostly what it says as a title itself. First off, and let's get this out of the way, this mod is for the PC only. Yes, as I have said before, I would LOVE to be able to mod on the console, at least from game itself, for example just put a mod on a usb drive and install it straight into the game from the games main menu itself, without have to do all that firmware modifying which can brick your system if you don't know what you're doing.

Now the backstory to what sparked the creation of Weye Rebuilt... Weye is originally just a small village outside of the Imperial City, and just had a small farm and an inn. There is nothing wrong with this, and you won't get a "but" here. I've just been playing Oblivion with the Better Cities mod, and yes, it was and is really nice to have all the extra content in the cities of Cyrodill. So I decided to do something similar with Weye. In fact 2 of the mods I am running already add to the village of Weye which are Zira's Clydesdale's, that adds a nice stable with a few "free to ride" clydesdale horses, and Coulorwheel's Sexy Oblivion overhaul, in which the latest compilation includes the Coulorwheel's Ladies Bank, both of which these mods add structures to Weye. Seeing this and wanting to find a home that I could use not just for my character's background story, but all of the characters I have use in Oblivion, Weye seemed like the perfect place to build this mod. There was also a need to build this mod due to the small amount of mod conflicts I had in game where locations couldn't be gotten to, so instead of choosing one or the other, I opted to "have my cake and eat it to".. so to speak.

Onward to the good stuff! Weye Rebuilt so far has added a few new buildings.

Buildings

House Darkchild - Exclusive to Weye Rebuilt. The home of the Darkchild family, where more than a handful of new NPC's are gonna be found, and yes, most are characters I played on the console (PS3), and thus ported them to PC, stats, looks, items and all.

Varians Elaborate Spells - A new storefront for Varian's store, which, if you happen to have Better Cities installed, are unable to get to, due to the BC mod narrowing the pathway that Varian's store is on, thus putting a wall right in front of his door. So, as by permission of the creator of Varian's Elaborate Spells mod, which is stated on the download site and by the downloaded readme file, you can use the mod in any fashion you'd like, just as long as you give credit. So I changed the location of the store and placed it in Weye! You'll still have to download his mod though in order to use the "esm" file he has, and I'll have instructions for all that stuff in the download.

Varian's Arsenal - Yes, another Varian mod. This one was the creators first mod, but, like with all his mods, continues to give full use of as long as credit is given. The original location of Varian's Arsenal wasn't blocked by any mods, but it did seem fitting to move it to Weye, given the fact that the Elaborate Spells store was moved there. And you won't have to download this one, as it will be included in the Weye Rebuilt dowload. This store adds a few new weapons to the game, and hey, with all the growth that 's going on in Weye, it's time it got a weapons store.

Kain's Shop and Drop - Yet another mod that was created and given full access to, and all you have to do is give credit, I love those kind of mods, passing on work to spark ideas for the next creator along the way. I personally used that philosophy when uploading the levels I created for Little Big Planet, it let other creators in the Imagisphere branch off of what I created, and in turn learned new things and grew. The cool thing was to see one of my talking trees and portal type gates in someone else's level clear across the world! (You had the option to not let someone download your level in which they could edit it). Anywho, back on track... Kain's Shop and Drop was yet another mod that was "blocked" by either Better Cities or Unique Landscapes, or both for that matter, where the entrance to Kain's store was covered up by building ruins and crates. You could just see the top left of the door located in the IC Waterfront, and just couldn't get to it, so as by permission, I relocated the shop. This mod is also included in Weye Rebuilt, so no need to download it as a requirement.

Coulorwheel's Ladies Bank - As stated above, it's location was already in Weye, so yes.. this is one of the required mods, but hey, I does add a nice tower to the scenery.

Zira's Clydesdale's Stable - Yes again, a required mod, but a very nice one.

New Terrain

Weye Caverns - This is also a Weye Rebuilt exclusive, and what I mean by that is that you'll only see it with Weye Rebuilt, as it was created by me. Weye Caverns are a new set of caves and tunnels underneath Weye, that interconnect at several different locations, one of which is the basement to Varian's Elaborate Spells, which leads me to what's next!

Varian's Elaborate Spells Basement - Originally not a part of the Varian's Elaborate spells store, but was not that hard to add, plus I wanted to expand on the store and include a lot more areas to Weye, plus it incorporated and plays a part in the expansion of Weye Caverns. There will be a shop also in the basement and a few other goodies to check out.

Other Stuff

Hawk's Rideable Creatures - This is an optional mod, meaning you can get it or not. This was implemented into Weye Rebuilt on the fact that yet again, the location of Hawk's Rideable Creatures could not be gotten to because of the changes either Better Cities or Unique Landscapes made to the Chestnut Handy Stables area right outside the Imperial City. So in the process of fixing Hawk's mod so I could use it, I decided to use it as an optional mod for Weye Rebuilt which adds wolfs, lions, clannfears, and boar's to the House Darkchild yard, all of which are rideable.

There will be more, such as new NPC homes, more shops exclusive to Weye Rebuilt, docks on the waterfront and new waterfront buildings, all exclusive to the Weye Rebuilt mod.

So... that's pretty much what Weye Rebuilt is so far, it's still a work in progress, as most big mods are. There will also be new quests, new voiced NPC's with their own dialog, new weapons and armor, new items with cool new effects, new spells, and finally... new bosses to beat.

Geeky Stuff

Currently the mod is being developed whild using Oscuro's Oblvion Overhaul, Better Cities, CM Companions, and the Beautiful People 2ch - Edition as masters, so the first release of Weye Rebuilt is gonna need those to function, so yeah, required mods. However I will be releasing a Vanilla version of the mod or at least one that makes the required mods optional.

Well that's about it for this week, the holidays were good and long! With that I'll leave you with the trailer of Weye Rebuilt and don't forget to stop by the XycoZone Youtube channel like and subscribe :)
